Celebrate ‘Summer of Reading’ Kick-Off Event at Elitch Gardens Theme & Water Park Friday, June 1 | 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Denver, CO – Denver Public Library is once again teaming up with Elitch Gardens Theme & Water Park to launch the annual Summer of Reading program with a book drive, live entertainment, and special discounted park admission. Families will be able to sign-up for the Summer of Reading program on-site at Elitch Gardens on Friday, June 1 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Guests who bring a donation of a new children’s book to the Reading Rocket Bookmobile at the entrance to Elitch Gardens will receive $10 off Main Gate full price adult admission to enjoy a full day of rides and entertainment on June 1. Elitch Gardens Theme and Water Park has proudly partnered with the Denver Public Library for over 20 years. Each year, Elitch’s generously donates more than 20,000 free admission tickets which are given as one of the many prizes families can earn throughout the Summer of Reading program.
For 2012, the park is adding three new rides and three new shows, all of which can be enjoyed during the kick-off event. Tube Top, a twisting, twirling, totally-enclosed tube slide is going into Elitch Gardens’ water park while a fresh new look for the theme park’s KiddieLand will feature Rockin’ Tug and Tike Bikes, two new children’s rides. New custom-produced shows that bring the audience into the act promise yet another season of exciting entertainment in downtown Denver.
